ECM aircraft radiates interfering signals toward an enemy’s radar, blocking the receiver with highly concentrated energy signals while greatly reducing the enemy’s information superiority. Early warning aircraft is a primary source of information on enemy air and surface forces and installations. Bombers provide an intercontinental capability to strike surface targets on short notice. Fighter aircraft, operating from airport or aircraft carrier, attacks enemy fighters while providing security to exploit the air for intelligence, early warning and control, bombing, and other functions. ![]() These forces can quickly gain and sustain air superiority over regional aggressors, permitting rapid air attacks on air and surface targets. IntroductionĪir strike forces composed of fighter, bomber, early warning aircraft, electronic countermeasure (ECM) aircraft, and unmanned aerial vehicle provide a versatile striking force capable of rapid and distant employment. The proposed intelligent mission planning model shows better results as compared to rule-based decision making with randomized parameters, and it performs as good as experts in the test set of the specific combat scenario. The proposed intelligent mission planning model is based on rule-based decision and uses a fully connected recurrent neural network to calculate some of the decision parameters. In a specific combat scenario of air strike operations against islands, an intelligent model is proposed to improve the performance and flexibility of mission planning. If some instruction parameters can be calculated by an intelligent agent, better strategies can be found more quickly. Mission planning of air strike operations is hard because it has to give instructions to a large number of units during a relatively long period of time in an uncertain environment.

![]() Why is The Texas Chain Saw Massacre Considered Important?Īs with my previous posts, I wrote out a few guesses as to why this movie is so well-known and highly regarded before I looked up the actual reasons it is those things. What is it about TTCM that has endured for so many years? I had to find out, so I prepared myself to be properly disturbed and got to work so that I can share with you, dear reader, whether or not TTCM is worth the nightmares it will inevitably induce. It spawned a franchise consistent of eight-soon to be nine- films, plus comics and a video game. 14 on The Guardian’s 2010 list of Best Horror Films of All Time, and made Time’s list of the Top 25 Horror Movies. The movie topped Total Film‘s 50 Greatest Horror Films list in 2005 (an honor voted on by the likes of George Romero and Wes Craven), ranked No. TTCM is considered one of the most significant horror films ever made. and Australia, upon initial release and in the years following. Due to its violent nature and perverse content, it was banned in multiple territories, including the U.K. TTCM was produced for somewhere between $60,000 and $160,000 (exact numbers vary) and grossed in the ballpark of $30 million domestically (again, the figures vary slightly from source to source). The stop proves fateful as the teens find themselves ensnared in a cannibalistic operation running out of the neighboring Sawyer home. Hooper’s horror classic follows siblings Sally and Franklin Hardesty and three of their friends as they set out on a summer’s day road trip and end up at an old Hardesty homestead. TTCM is a 1974 slasher film directed by the late Tobe Hooper, who ( most likely) also directed Poltergeist. It doesn’t even really matter, as I will henceforth shorten the name to TTCM, but just know that I *probably* wrote it correctly above. I decided to use two words for this piece after consulting IMDb and Shudder (where it’s currently streaming). I would like to start off by pointing out that the “Chain Saw” part of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is written in some places as “Chain Saw” and in others as “Chainsaw.” The film’s iconic poster displays it as one word, while the title card separates it in two. Warning: The remainder of this article contains mild spoilers for the 1974 film The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. That said, this series of reviews is meant to be a discussion of which movies provide good, old-fashioned fun. I believe in the importance of art and understand that all films are worth watching for one reason or another. More like it? In that case, let me tell you about the “true story” of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre and whether or not it’s the right choice for your Halloweekend viewing.īefore I get into it, I’d like to preface this piece, as I do all of my posts, by acknowledging that entertainment is subjective. So, let me guess how you found your way to this post-you’re looking for something comforting to watch during these trying times and the first thing you thought of is The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. ![]() I tell him that it's a dead kid, and he sort of pats my shoulder and tells me he'll deal with it. I have to take a second to compose myself, and I get up and go get one of the other vets, who's standing by. Now, I've seen dead bodies before, but something about this whole situation hits me hard. His head is caved in on one side, and he's covered in scratches. I ask her to tell me what's going on, and I sort of pry her arms gently open so I can see what she's holding. That's when I notice the sling on her front and my heart sinks. I crouch down and see that whatever she's holding, it's covering her with blood. She's rocking, holding something, and just shrieking, over and over. I go over while one of the vets tries to calm him down, and I ask the wife what's going on. He's still hysterical, but he manages to tell us that it's not his wife that needs help. Now obviously we can't just drive an ambulance up the walking path, so we ask him if his wife needs help, or if she can walk on her own. He sees us and he screams at us to help them, to please get an ambulance up there. She's screaming these awful, almost animal-like screams, and he's sobbing. When we get there, we see him holding his wife, and shes got something in her arms. We could hear the woman screaming in the background, and he was begging us to come up there right away. The husband was completely hysterical, and we couldn't really figure out what was going on. This case got called in early in the morning, from a young couple who were up on one of the trails that goes by the lake. As an SAR officer, you go out for all kinds of cases, from animal bites to heart attacks. Before I took this job, I was a volunteer, so I had a basic idea of what to expect, but on those calls you're mostly dealing with finding lost people after vets have found signs of them. The first happened on a case that I went out on right after I got out of training, and was still pretty new to everything. It's a great job, despite the occasional tragic situations, and I wouldn't want to do anything else. ![]() ![]() I've been doing this for years, and I started out as a volunteer helping on SAR operations. I'll be speaking to him later in the week, and I will let you all know what comes of that.Īs far as advice on becoming an SAR officer goes, I think the best advice I can give is to contact your local Forest Service office and see if they offer and training courses, or what the qualifications are. However, one of my former superiors no longer works as an SAR officer, and it's possible that he may be willing to talk to me about it. As for whether or not I have ever thought of asking my superiors about them, I have, but again, I don't want to risk my job. I'll go into that more at the end of this update. There is still a great amount of interest in the stairs, and luckily for you guys my friend has a story that I think you'll all be very interested in. We're talking hundreds of miles of thick forest, with a mountain range and a few lakes. ![]() I will say that I'm in the United States, and in an area that is comprised of a great deal of wilderness. In all reality some of the things I've mentioned here could get me in a lot of trouble or fired, so it's best if I just don't discuss too much. I am not comfortable talking about where exactly I work, unfortunately. I'm going to write as many as I can think of, in addition to my friend's stories, and I will probably not update again until I get a chance to answer some questions that I myself have for my superiors.Īlright, so the common questions I found you all had: Well, once again, you guys have blown me away with your staggering amount of responses to my stories! There's no way I can respond to each of you individually, so I'm just going to address some common things again, and then move on to the stories. ![]() Many suggestions may be worthwhile, but you can ignore any that might do more harm than good.
